CEO & Director
Veli is an entrepreneur and an investor in early-stage companies. Prior to Lanturn, Veli started, ran and sold companies in Tokyo and Hong Kong. Most recently, in 2010 he founded a consulting business in Hong Kong that worked for leading banks, private equity firms, asset managers and multinationals (exiting in a sale in 2016). Velisarios has an economics degree, and speaks English, Greek and Japanese.
Director of Operations
Maryana has more than a decade of experience in the trade, corporate services, and fund administration. Maryana is a Registered Qualified Individual, accredited by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) in Singapore, and she has worked for companies ranging from technology startups to mid-market multinationals. Prior to Lanturn, she worked in fund administration as a leading global fund administrator. Maryana has a degree in finance and economics and speaks English and Russian.
Head of Immigration Services
Dharini is a Chartered Secretary accredited by the Chartered Secretaries Institute of Singapore, and a Registered Qualified Individual accredited by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) in Singapore. Prior to joining Lanturn, Dharini spent three years at another corporate services firm. Dharini has a postgraduate degree in commerce, and she speaks English, Tamil and Telegu.
Chief Financial Officer & Head of Fund Services
Chris spent three years working at a Big Four audit firm, and is a Chartered Accountant. Prior to Lanturn, Chris was Finance Manager at a major re-seller of marine and petroleum products and services. In that role, Chris oversaw financial reporting for five offices across APAC with revenues of more than USD1 billion. Chris has an honours degree in accounting and finance, and a postgraduate degree in accounting, and he speaks English and Afrikaans.
Head of Corporate Secretarial Services
Chantal has a degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Aberdeen. Following graduation, she had experience as a Medical Surveillance Specialist, Mortgage Advisor and Financial Paraplanner in the UK before joining Lanturn in 2019 as a Corporate Secretary.
Chantal has vast/extensive experience in corporate governance, corporate structure, as well as handling and advising funding rounds for Lanturn’s clients. She is able to converse in English, Mandarin and Cantonese and now leads the CorpSec Team in managing client work, training and ensuring that all of Lanturn’s clients are compliant.
Head of Engineering
Graduating from University of San Carlos, Jimbo has over 10 years of engineering experience. He has lead teams to develop applications in the video streaming and fintech space.
Head of Product
Alma is based in the Philippines and has over 10 years of experience working as a product manager. She has lead the development of an award-winning wealth management product and now plays a key role in leading the product team from LFS and LCS platforms.
Head of Growth & Marketing
Kirsty is an entrepreneur who uses her creative skills in design and marketing to pinpoint go-to-market strategies, sharpen user experience for different client personas, and manage every facet of branding and marketing. Kirsty has worked with everything from B2C and B2B startups to global SaaS businesses. Most recently, she co-founded Guilt, a bakery specialising in premium cookies. Kirsty has a degree in design, and she speaks English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
Head of Business Development and Hong Kong
Andrew brings over 20 years of experience in banking and asset management through his extensive work with private equity and venture capital firms. Having lived in Hong Kong for most of his career, Andrew has a deep understanding on the Hong Kong market. In his last role, Andrew was CFO & COO at a VC firm focused on health and sustainability. He plays a key role in the continuing development of all Lanturn services working closely with clients and sales, marketing, engineering and product teams to deliver industry-leading technology and an exceptional user experience.
Board Of Directors and Advisers
Batara is co-founder and managing partner of East Ventures, one of Asia’s most active early-stage investors. Previously, Batara co-founded and was CTO of Mixi, a Japanese social network and game developer that he helped to take public. East Ventures made its first investment in 2010, and it recently raised its 8th fund, a seed-stage fund focused on digital companies emerging in the post-lockdown aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic. Batara has a degree in computer science, and he speaks English, Japanese and Indonesian
Roland is the Managing Partner of CoCoon Ignite Ventures, a venture capital fund focusing on investments in early-stage technologies. In this role, Roland has led investments in companies including Cafe X, Soundbrenner, and GoBee Bike. Roland is also an active advisor to his portfolio companies, large corporations, founders, and other venture capital funds. Prior to establishing CoCoon Ignite Ventures, Roland worked on corporate financing, deal structuring, and M&A at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, an international law firm. Roland has degrees in biology and law, and he speaks English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
Vesna is a risk professional with 25 years experience. She started her career in banking, and has led global teams and projects in areas including regulatory compliance, reputational risk, and due diligence. Vesna is a Managing Director in London at a growth-stage US technology company that provides compliance solutions to banks.
Michael Smith Jr.
Adviser & Investor
Michael works at AWS in a global role, and is an ex CTO, CPO, and VC firm partner. Over the past 20 years, he has held senior roles at Yahoo and BEA Systems (bought by Oracle). An engineer and product manager by background, he has invested in multiple category-leading startups.
Adviser – Operations
Alex is a seasoned investor in and adviser to early- and growth-stage companies in Asia, Europe and North America. In his role as an adviser, he leverages 20 years of experience in operations and supply chain management to help teams grow, improve efficiency and increase profit. Previously, he founded one of Greece’s leading consulting firms, and he was COO for EMEA at TMF Group, a global corporate services firm. Alex has degrees in economics, logistics and supply chain management and is a Six Sigma black belt. He is fluent in English, Greek and French.
Adviser & Investor
Alex is CIO at Keshik Capital, a multi-strategy fund based in Singapore. Previously, Alex worked at leading global investment banks and hedge funds, and he has close to two decades of experience managing multi-asset portfolios, and investing in public and private corporate securities and derivatives. Alex has a degree in economics, and he speaks English and Mandarin.
Adviser – Technology
Bjorn is a partner at Antler, a global VC and startup generator. He is a seasoned chief technology officer with experience across startups, mid-market multinationals, and global technology firms. Focused heavily on product and growth, has managed teams in Malaysia, Singapore, Ukraine and Turkey, and he uses test-and-learn experiments to build software that is scalable and stacks up commercially. Bjorn has an undergraduate degree in computer engineering, and a postgraduate degree in technology management, and he speaks English and Swedish.
Tiang Lim Foo
Adviser – Growth
Tiang Lim is the Co-Founder and Parter of seed fund Forge Ventures. Previously he was the Head of Asia for Evernote and Partner at Seedplus, a Singapore-based seed fund. Over the past decade, Tiang Lim has invested in multiple category-leading startups and used his expertise in growth to help with their development. He currently sits on the board of Qoala, a Sequoia-backed fintech firm.
